View Full Version : Locking Headers and Footers

Someone I know is considering creating a template for electronic letterhead
that people could use instead of ordering printed letterhead. However, there
are things such as the company logo placed in the upper right hand corner of
the letterhead and the address being included on the bottom of the letterhead
that would need to be locked so that people who use this electronic
letterhead don't have the ability to move these items in any way.

Is it possible to create a template in Word and have these items locked so
people cannot edit them? They are thinking of making the logo part of a
header and the address part of the footer, but is there a way to lock headers
and footers so no one can change them -- accidentally or on purpose?

Thank you,

Just putting things in the header and footer where they won't be
inadvertently moved is usually sufficient, but if you really need to prevent
intentional tampering, see
