Table spacing by bubbakittee
I'm tryin to find a way to set up spacing before and after tables in a long document written with Word 2007 (or XP). I was expecting that a table would be regarded as a paragraph, and would therefore have "space before" and "space after" attributes. No such luck. The best solution I have found is...

Spacing recommendations by bubbakittee
Does anyone have guidelines or "best practices" regarding the use of Word's paragraph spacing capabilities ?? For example, suppose I want 12 points of space in between any given pair of consecutive "body" paragraphs. How should I define my "body" style ? Should I use: (1) 12 points before and...

Submitting a manuscript...a solution by Sylvia M
Submitting a manuscript Most publishers, certainly online publishers, seem to prefer an e-mailed manuscript. My dilemma, as posted as an inquiry several months ago (in another microsoft newsgroup)was stated as: "It seems to me that there was a time that I could open 2 Word .docs and have them...

Styleref field / non-breaking spaces by MrBudgens
The STYLEREF field seems to turn non-breaking spaces and hyphens into standard spaces and hyphens. Am I missing something here or does anyone know any workarounds? I know that cross-references will behave themselves but I can't use bookmarked text in this particular case.

How to turn off automatic heading/styles by M. P.[_2_]
Every now and then MSword decides I must want a particular heading/ styles format (this is the series of Aa Bb Cc icons that take up about 1/3 of my toolbar). I use multi-level lists extensively and all this auto formatting does is cause problems with it. I never use the heading/styles...

Magic expanding captions by Musser
Hi there! I am writing a thesis in Word (currently about 100 pages) and have a problem with a few of the captions on my figures. Most of them are fine, but a few of them have this problem: When I update the document, the captions incorporate their figure into the caption - including formatting the...
