Default Removing a watermark

Thank you. I didn't realize you could select the watermark as a graphic
element when the header or footer was active.

Watermarks are anchored in the header to make them appear on every page.
Since you had two different headers in the doc (regular and first page),
there were two separate but identical watermarks--one anchored in the
regular header, one in the first page header, and both needed to be deleted.

To delete a watermark manually, you have to View Header/Footer, then select
the watermark, and hit delete. So you could have done that on the first page
only.

Apparently the "no watermark" button in the Insert | Watermark dialog
doesn't account for having multiple headers quite smoothly enough.

I added a text watermark to a document. Then I set up the document to display
headers/footers differently on the first page. Then I removed the watermark.
It went away from all the pages but the first page. I could only make the
first page watermark disappear by removing the 'different first page' setting
for headers/footers. I finally did remove that setting and inserted a section
break between the first page and the rest of the document. That way I was
able to remove the watermark from all pages and still have a different footer
on the first page. Is there an easier way to do this?
