Default Margin quirk?

Well, it depends which doodad you're dragging. If it's the Right Indent
marker, then you're on the right track. See

Sorry, I was unclear. I am trying to indent selected text by dragging the
doodad in the top ruler. What is that thing called, anyway?

Margins are a section property. Are you attempting to change the margin

for
the entire section or the indent for selected paragraphs?

OK, this happened four times in a row, so I'm definitely not

hallucinating.

I selected text, drug in the left margin 1/2". I selected some

different
text, drug in the left margin 1/2" and nothing happened except the

left
margin marker moved (the text did not). I went to grab the margin

marker
again, and it jumped back to the 0 point, and I inserted a tab

instead. I
dragged the tab off, reselected the text and was able to set the left

margin.

This happened each time. First a successful margin set, then nothing,

then
a success.

I'm on Word 2003, XP. Anybody ever seen this one before?
