Is there a top end to the number of cross references a Word document will
handle? I have a 300+ page document with well over 1,000 cross-references to
the 93-item Works Cited section. All those references plus an 89-page table
in Appendix B make me worried about how stable this document is going to be.

I'm running Office 2003 under Windows XP Professional.
