everything was set to Explicit Off or just Off except for ShowDates. 1033
was set to Explicit Off as the reference said.
What I did is destroy all entries for languages I did not want (kept UK, US
and French). Languages to be found here

Then restarted Word (no reboot): it worked fine! arabic characters from the
style pane are gonne too!
