Default 2007 Outlining, Styles, List #s

Please see my reply to your duplicate post in the previous thread (if you
want to switch NGs, your best bet would be microsoft.public.word.numbering).

I'm a Migrant from New Users Section...

1) A post said to use the outling tab for good numbering of Heading 1,
heading 2 and head......, but in 2007 I don't see a "Tab". for that.
Specifically, I have followed (I think) the procedure at
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/ numbering/OutlineNumbering.html., but in
2007 Word I don't find an custom outline number gallary.

2) The problem is that level 1 changes but level two continues from level

2
in the previous level 2 section:

1 Heading 1
1.1 Heading 2
1.2 Heading 2
2 Heading 1
1.3 ----------Should be 2.1
1.4 ----------Should be 2.2

Ok, maybe I've got it. When I call up numbering again, and I go to

formating
the number, I replace the unshaded number (that is the number to the left

of
the decemal) with that of the number on the Heading 1, it uses that

number,
while the number on the right of the decimal indexes, starting at 1

So, in this listing is the way it was:

I now get:

1 heading 1
1.1 Heading 2
1.2 Heading 2
2 heading 1
2.1 Heading 2
2.2 Heading 2

Surely, I don't have to do this after every Heading 1? What am I missing?
