Default How do I delete the automatic line that appears above a footnote?

To delete the footnote separator, do this:

In case of Word 2003 or earlier version:
1. Select View Normal.
2. Select View Footnotes.
3. In the top of the Footnotes pane, select "Footnote Separator" from the
list.
4. Now you should be able to select the line (double-click it) and delete it.

In case of Word 2007:
1. Select Draft view.
2. Select References tab Footnotes group Show Notes.
Follow Steps 3-4 above.
