Ok, I figured out my own problem, and it's got to be a bug. To be able
to save it, I had to open all the subdocuments, then save the master
doc. But then to edit the subdocs within the master I had to close the
subdocs (because they were locked in the master since they were open),
then reopen them when I wanted to save the master. What a pain!
