Deleting the table means just what it says.

If you want to switch off the borders, go to Format Borders and Shading
and set the borders to None.

Why is it when i try to delete my table and colums after making business
cards the whole lot deletes? It say's you can just delete borders and
collums but the contents delete as well! Am I doing something wrong?
