But two spaces between sentences died with typewriters. Typewriters used
fixed-width spaces between letters regardless of their width: to make text

Computers are clever and adjust the width used by characters and kern
characters so the stop and space between sentences obvious. In fact, double
spaces are kerned anyway. The result is not the same as double spaces using
a typewriter.

May have been covered, but how do you set the spaces to automatically
be two spaces after the period at the end of a sentence?

Even with variable spacing, I don't spot the end of the line so well.
Plus, being taught touch typing, old habits die hard.
