Default Word 2003 - Toolbars and normal.dot not saved when application

I find it difficult to believe that you "don't have" the listed Registry
keys. Also, no templates in Word's templates folder(s) are likely to be part
of the problem except Normal.dot (whether it's the "appropriate" one or
not); .dot files that might cause a problem would be in Word's Startup
folder.

Hi,

I've looked into the information provided by all of you but and nothing
that
was mentionned has fixed the issue :

-I've remove all temporary files (all forms of) ; (and I see hidden files)
-I have none of the registry key mentionned in the list
-I've removed all the .dot files from the Word template folder and run

word
without any and the problem persist.
-I use the appropriate normal.dot;
-The settings of this machine is the same that the 450 others on our

floors.
(check all of the options menus).

I facing a real problem in here and I need your help to fix it. Thanks to
everybody that try to help me and do not give up, we'll succeded !!!

I thought the OP said he didn't have Acrobat 7, only Reader 6, which

will;
not affect the issue. It is possible another add-in is the problem. What
add-ins are present?

I would also recommend looking for orphan temp files - particularly the

lock
file for normal.dot

Then check out http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...peningWord.htm
which covers the issues affecting Word.

So, did you look at Graham's page on Acrobat 7?

Hi,

Even though with the tick added or remove, it doesn't do it. I've
forgot to
mention it.

Thanks for your help !

First, turn on the option to ask about saving changes to
normal.dot. You should be asked about it rather than simply having
it happen. From the FAQ:

28. I can't save my customizations - AutoText, menus, etc.
Can't save normal.dot...
If you have Adobe Acrobat 7 installed see the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm.
Otherwise, hold down the Shift key when selecting the File
menu and select Save All.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Working with WINXP Pro SP2 and Office 2K3 SP1. I DO NOT HAVE
READER 7.0
installed and was never installed before. Changes in toolbars are
not kept
when the user close Word and re-open it. I do not see the little
message
that we usually see on the left bottom corner showing "Saving
normal.dot"
before the application turn off. But if I remove a tick in the
generel tab
(Tools-Options) and close Word, this setting is kept without any
problem.

I've repaired Office from the application itself, from the
Add/Remove programs, re-install Office from the Add/Remove
program, rename the Word
folder in the registry and the problem is still persisting.

I've uninstalled the reader 6.0, remove the installation folder,
reboot and
tried without an Adobe program installed and the problem is still
present.

Any help or reference will ne greatelly appreciated !!
