Default how to default page number and line number on toolbar

Hi Paula,

If you can see the status bar at the bottom of the screen, then it shows
Page x Sec s x,y | At v.vcm Ln m Col n

which tells you where you are in the document.

If you want to display line numbers 'on the page', then:
FilePage Setup
Layout (tab)
Click 'Line Numbers ...' (button - bottom left)
'Add line numbering' CHECK the box & select the options you want.

If you want page numbers in the document:
InsertPage numbers ...
Select the options you need.

To make any of these the default for a new document, open
NORMAL.DOT and set these up - Save and close.

Hi, thanks for that but had already tried it. Got page number on existing
document but no line number. Also did not default to new document. Any
clues?

Have just been up-graded to Office professional 2003 - toolbar at bottom of
screen does not show page number or line number. How do you show these and
have them appear automatically on every new document?
