Default unable to protect document word 2007

The Protect Document command on the Review tab falls into the category of
"collaborative protection" and not document security which is what the
Encrypt Document command provides. When you encrypt a document the password
must be known to open the file. When you use Protect Document anyone can
open the file but the password must be known to modify the protection
options.

And, documents protected using Protect Document is easily by-passed but
cracking a password to open a file is next to impossible depending on the
password used to secure the file.

LoveMe,
Don't know about the encryption bit but have you tried the Review tab on
the ribbon, in the protect group, protect document button. In the task
pane you can indicate what the user will be able to do, when you get to
step 3 you will get the opportunity to assign a password to the file.

Want to protect word 2007 document. I select Office Buton then Encrypt
Document, Enter Password twice, save file then close file. When I goto to
open the document it opens right up without asking for password.
Any suggests? --
