You can type anything you like into the field: the numeric setting is acted
on only when you move out of the field.

I am inserting a numeric form field into a Word 6 document. The field is
formatted as numeric, 10 characters, number format "0". Then I protect the
form and store it as a template. However, any time I produce a document
based on the template, it allows me to place up to 10 text or numeric
characters into the field. What am I doing wrong. Any help would be
appreciated.
