Default indenting after previous line has *

You need to format the paragraphs with a hanging indent. Or better yet,
define a Style with such an indent and apply that Style to the paragraphs.

this is what i get when starting a line with * or something similar

* Website Programmer €“ multiple form pages such as volunteer applications,
all backend processing including database creation and browser based
user
management
* Adoption Counselor and outreach events such as mobile adoptions

this is what i want but word won't let it happen, it doesn't allow spaces
to
be inserted at the start of a line so i can indent the text to line up
with
text above it????
* Website Programmer €“ multiple form pages such as volunteer
applications, all backend processing including database

surely there must be some way to do this?
