My inclination would be to say there's an Addin (or virus) interfering with
what you're trying to do. If you start Word in Safe Mode does the behavior
persist?

(If you need to follow up on this here, please provide the version of Word
you're using)

I am a fairly experienced user of Microsoft Word and I have always been able
to paste pictures, images, logos, etc. into both the headers and footers so
that they would appear on every page. However, I am using a computer I have
not used before, and the pictures appear to be behaving differently. Every
time I paste the picture with the header/footer view open, that view closes
upon pasting, and the picture pastes into the body of the document. I am
able to move the picture image above the header on individual pages, but not
embed it into the header and footer to carry forward. I looked into the
Options - Edit menu settings and compared my settings with those of someone
for who this function was working properly and not a problem using the same
file and pictures.
