Default How do I open an "Open Office" document?

Thanks Jay, this means that I will have to buy MS Office if I want to take
part in the outside world

If there is a moderator watching this thread, the link that I got by e.mail,
to tell me that I had a reply does not work.

I was under the impression that Open Office was compatible with MS Word.
I have created a document in Open Office and tried to open it with Word, but
there is no extension (.odt) option available. Am I able to use both of these
programmes freely or not?

Not.

Open Office can read and write MS Word format (.doc) files. Word cannot read
..odt files. If you want to use both programs interchangeably for the same
documents, always save them in .doc format.
