If you're using Word's versioning feature, then I can't help you, as I would
touch that with a ten-foot pole!

Thanks, that works great ... Is there a way to get the DocProperty to
auto-update?

I tried the macro that toggles from print preview and back (using the
auto-update option), but to know avail... Versioning seems kinda buggy,

but
still worth using..

If you want the "revision number" (as Word defines it), you can use a

RevNum
field, but this merely indicates the number of times a document has been
saved. If you want a more meaningful version number, create a custom
document property, save the version number in that property, and use a
DocProperty field to insert it.
