Default Odd Section breaks and page numbers

When you say the odd page breaks "stop working," do you mean that blank even
pages are no longer inserted? I suspect this is because Word doesn't realize
you intend to duplex the document. If you enable either "Mirror margins" or
"Different odd and even" headers/footers, does the blank page come back?
Note that you won't see the blank page except in Print Preview, and not even
there unless you are displaying two or more pages.

Hello

I'm writing a manual and using odd section breaks between the title page,
contents page and then the bulk of the manual. When I first do this it

looks
fine with page numbers etc although what I want to be my first numbered

page
displays as page 5 (as that what it really is). The problem that I am

having
is that when I edit the page number to start from 1 rather than continue

from
the previous section it stops the odd section breaks from working.

I've tried stopping the headers and footers from looking at previous and
creating the number from the 5th page, again same problem.

Any ideas VERY GRATEFULLY received

Thanks
