In a way. You can create a shortcut to start Word with the most recently
used file (the first one listed on the MRU list) opened. See the /mfilen
switch in €śWD: Word Startup (Command-Line) Switches and Their Purpose€ť at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=210565 (it's at the very end of the
article).

Thanks Bill. I reposted the same message with better wording 'cause I got

an
email response to the first one to the effect that 'it didn't take.'

The SHIFT+F5 thing will work but can Word be started with the document

last
worked on already open.

I often work with several documents open moving amongst them by clicking
under Windows on the taskbar. At the end of the day, upon exiting Word

and
shutting down the computer, it would be nice when I come in the next day

just
to open Word and have all those documents already open and waiting than to
try to recall which ones I was using. Guess I'm spoiled.

When your document is opened, you can press SHIFT+F5 to go to the last
edited point.

In WordPerfect there is an option to 'Save Workspace on Close' in

which a
prompt appears when closing the program. Answering 'Yes' retrieves

and
displays the last document worked on at the point it was last saved
('Quickmark' bookmark). Does Word have a similar feature? If so, how

is
it
activated?
