Default different column widths

mindy wrote:
i have a word document with 2 columns and i want the columns to be of
2 different widths. in word 2003, i just adjusted the widths in the
ruler. but when i try that in word 2007, it automatically adjusts the
other column to match.
how can i change the width of one column without having the second
column change?

Click the Page Layout Columns button and choose More Columns at the bottom
of the menu. That opens the same dialog as in 2003. Uncheck the "Equal
column widths" box, and then you can do anything you like to the column
widths.
