Default End Notes Problemo

Most often when people claim they are seeing "gibberish" or "codes" or even
"HTML," what they're seeing is field codes. Seeing field codes in
footnotes/endnotes is a new wrinkle in Word 2007 resulting from the new
citation feature (unless you're using EndNote with an earlier version;
presumably it creates something similar). The view of field codes is toggled
with Alt+F9.

At a guess, try Alt+F9.

The working view in my word document contains footnotes that are in an
expanded view. The view contains lots of with plenty of
unnecessary
linked information.

In the print view, the footnote looks normal. It has the authors last
name,
title of book and page reference.

How can I make my working view look like my print view? Originally, the
working view did look like my print view - but something happened.

I need help. Thank you so very much.
