Default Smart Tag has spelling error in my name. How do I correct?

Good question. When you closed Word, were you prompted to save Normal.dot?
(Presumably not, but you would be if an AutoText entry had been changed.) It
may be that the AutoText entries are created only when you initially install
the program and enter your name, company name, etc. I am positive I never
created AutoText entries for my name or company name, yet these AT entries
exist, so Word must have created them automatically at some point. I wonder
whether, if you changed the user name in the Registry, this would be
reflected in a change in the AutoText.

Suzanne,

I have Tony Jollans as my User Name and as an AutoText entry (although I
don't remember setting it) but if I change my user name - and reboot to be
sure - I don't get my new user name as an AutoText or offered as one or
automatically corrected in any way. Am I missing a trick? Word 2000 on Win
2000.

No, that is an AutoComplete tip, which indicates that the name is saved

as
an AutoText entry. The entries on the User Information tab of Tools |
Options are automatically treated as AutoText entries. Check the

spelling
of
your name in the Options.

First of all thank you for your input.
I have gone the route you suggested, and it has "kindof" helped,

however,
what is still appearing is ----when I type howard,-- during the middle

of
the
name, ---a goldernrod color tag will appear that says 'howard, (Press

ENTER
to Insert).
I believe that is called a "Smart Tag" by MS. Is that not so/
thanks
