Default header and footer company logo causes word to open slowly

Sure, shoot it to me, and I'll see if I can figure anything out.

Hi Suzzanne,
I don't think it's my hardware, my PC is a very new HP Compaq DC7800P.
Specs:
CPU:Intel Core2Duo (2.33GHZ)
RAM: 2gb HDD: 80gb
OS:Windows Vista Business SP1;
Graphics Card: Intel Express 286mb

I've even deleted the text which is the body of the letter from this
document and it still opens very slowly. If you don't mind, I can send
this
to you so that you can take a look. I would be very grateful if you
could.
thanks.

If they're from elsewhere and you can see them, then they must be
embedded.
If for some reason they are both linked and embedded, that could be the
issue. Or it could just be that your graphics adapter isn't up to the
task
or needs a driver update.

I'm not sure how I can check this, these are documents sent to us from
other
Councils, and they happen to place their company logos in the header
and
their contact address in the footer, all in graphic format. I would
imagine
that theyre neither linked or embedded. What is the work around/fix if
any?
Thanks for your kind assistance.

Is the logo linked or embedded. If linked, where is the graphic
stored--locally or on the network?

We've had this problem for a while now, it is that when I try to
open
word
attachments that contains a graphic in it's header and or footer, it
takes
a
few minutes to open, sometimes 3-5minutes. users with particularly
low
spec
PCs will find that it takes them even longer. Is there a way around
this?
Usually the header and footer is just the Company's logo. Thanks
for
your
help.
