Default how do insert filename or path into a document or letter?

I agreee with you - I have no idea as to why they removed this very critical
component, but here is the answer I received on this same topic. Good luck:

"Office 2007 has a number of features intended for ease of replication,
distribution, collaboration and reuse, so a number of features are moved or
supplemented in the 'Quick Parts' area in 'galleries' (choose and click).

You can insert the Filename field with several approaches in Word 2007. For
example,
On the Insert tab, or if you're already in the footer, the
'Header & Footer Tools=Design' tab

use Quickparts=Fields=Filename
(turn on the 'Add path to filename' choice)

Once you have a footer style that you like you can select it then use Alt+F3
to save it to the Quick Parts Building Block list under
Page numbers or footers or your own category, or open the 'Footer' gallery
and at the bottom use the 'Add Selection to Footer
Gallery' to be able to reuse it in other documents.

in word 2003 there was a command button which would insert the current doc
file name wherever the curor was placed. In 2007 I can't find it!
