end. It has to be ridiculously difficult to work on a complex problem via

I am trying to create a single document that has four separate forms.

Two of the forms use the same information. One form is built on pleading
paper.
1. How do I add these forms into one document?
2. I would like to auto populate the two similar forms. My attempts at
this have failed thus far.
I also discovered while trying to copy the form built on pleading paper,
the vertical lines running the full length of the paper do not transfer. I
also discovered that trying to add a new page after this form resulted in the
new page being formatted as pleading paper.

Not sure I can help with all your points, but let's see if we can at least get

things moving...By "forms" do you mean you're using form fields?
In which version of Word are you working?
Here's a tip: In order to switch page sizes or margins you need to insert a
SECTION BREAK. Page Layout settings are section-specific. Insert/Break will
let
you insert a section break. For this, you should choose the "Next page"
section
type.

Yes, I am using form fields. I am working in Word version 2003.

OK, based on what you tell us, I'd start like this:

1. Start with the first form. Assuming the similar form should follow...
2. Insert a manual page break (Ctrl+Enter). Insert/File to import the
similar form.
3. Where you want to duplicate user input from Form 1, insert a REF field
that
references the form field's name (actually a bookmark).
- ctrl+F9 to insert field brackets
- type REF then the name
- F9 to update the field
- Alt+F9 to toggle field codes off/on
- double-click a form field to open the Options dialog box if you don't
know the
form field's name (and to assign it a more meaningful one, if you wish)
4. After the second form, use Insert/Break to insert a Next Page section
break.
5. In File/Page Setup alter the paper orientation and anything else you need
to
change (such as margins). Make SURE you save it for "This section" (and not
"Whole
document" or anything else from that list).
6. Insert/File to bring in the third form.
7. Do the fourth form similarly to how you did the second.

I was able to get all the forms into one document. However, the third form
is formatted on pleading paper, with two vertical lines on the left side of
the document running the full length of the document. This has two
challenges. The first, all of the lines are numbered, but they are not spaced
properly. They should be double spaced. I was successful in changing the text
line width, but could not change the pleading paper numbers. Second, when I
insert the last page, it is formatted on the pleading paper and I cannot get
it to go away, leave town, take 5, whatever. Hopefully, the description of
the challenges is understandable. If not, let me know.

I'm not really familiar with "pleading paper", so unless someone else jumps in,

you may have to help me along with how the pleading paper is constructed...
Last time I looked at a pleading paper template (ten or more years back), it
inserted a FRAME in the header, down the left-hand margin, to contain the
static
numbers. Assuming the approach is still the same
1. View/Headers and Footers.
2. Can you click in/on the numbers, now? Does a slash-bordered box appear
around
them? If you right-click this border, do you see a command Format Frame?
3. In any case, whether it's a frame or not, at this point you should be
able to
change the line spacing for the numbers?
4. Still assuming I'm on the right track... If the fourth form should NOT
have
the numbers, you should be able (while NOT viewing the header, but the
cursor in
either the third or fourth page) to go into File/Page Setup/Layout and
activate
"Different First Page". Now the pleading numbers will appear only on the
fourth
page. Go into the Header/Footer view for the fourth page, click on the box,
Edit/Cut, move up to the third page header, then Edit/Paste

Now I know why people pay big bucks to have this stuff done!!
Apparently, I like the punishment.
So far, I have managed to get the fillable forms in one document. Howver,
the fourth page does not need to have the pleading paper format. When I
follow the instructions to take it off the fourth page, I lose the formatting
on the page that needs the formatting.
I'm getting closer but not close enough.
You must be a saint to work with this stuff and still be able to converse
normally!!
Please tell me how to accomplish removing the formatting on the fourth page.


Can you be more specific about the formatting you're losing? This is the third
page where you're getting the problem?

I'm sorry. This problem refers to the pleading format I need to use on the
third form. The problem occurs when I add the fourth page, a non-pleading
paper page, to the document. This page is not filled by me. I just want to
print it and send it along with the other pages. However, when I follow the
instructions to remove the pleading format from the fourth page, it also
leaves the third page/form.

I also would like to know how to add an envelope to a document and have it
filled with the delivery and return address.


Ah. OK, see if this approach works better for you: At the end of the third

page, insert another Next Page section break. On this page, unlink the
headers/footers from the previous section. You should now be able to delete
the Pleading stuff without affecting that page at all. Insert the fourth form.
Mmmm. Where Word should usually pick up the return address from the
information in Tools/Options/User Info. Where/how do you think the delivery
address should come from?

could you refresh my memory, please: you refer to the various pages as
"forms", but are you actually protecting this file as a form? (It makes a
difference in how we approach the envelope problem.) Does the envelope have
to
be part of this document (be saved with it)? Or is it more a "one-off" kind
of
thing?

I think I have confused you with improper element names.
The document I am working on has five pages.
The first page is fine.
The second page is fine.
The third and fourth pages are fine (now). These are the pages that are set
up on the pleading paper format.
The fifth page is the problem child. when I insert a page break on the
fourth page, Word atutomatically formats it in pleading paper.

except I need to keep pleading format on pages three and four. When I would
do the page setup for the fifth page, the pleading format on pages three and
four would move to the left margin and I was unable to move them back to
their orginal position.
When I tried to do the unlinkning of the header/footer page five would be
spread across three pages using the pleading format. I was not able to delete
the header from page five as you suggested.
Soooo, the good news is, I was successful in getting the pages to
autopopulate. If this is getting to be a bit too much for this forum, please
tell me and I will go away. Thank you in advance!!
