Default keyboard shortcuts selecting text

According to Word's Help, ESC is the correct key. It turns F8 off, but it
doesn't unselect the selected text. To do that, you have to use an arrow
key. This didn't work for me the first time I tried it, but then I couldn't
get it to not work on subsequent trials. sigh

Okay, you guys got me. I tried all of these keys and nothing works (esc

or
arrow keys), any other suggestions on turning off the F8 key when it's in
select mode? TAP

Ahh, right (caught me!). Right or left arrow comes closest, I think.

Sorry 'bout that!
