Default When I attach my word document it comes out as a .docx. Why?

I have the latest version of Word and save all new documents to it.
When I try and attach it, it shows up as a .docx. It cannot be
opened that way. I save it as Word 2007. Can anyone assist.

A "Word 2007" document _is_ a .docx file. It's a new file format, almost
completely different from the format used by previous versions.

If you want a .doc file that can be opened by earlier versions, click the
Office button, hover over the Save As item, and choose "Word 97-2003
Document" from the menu that appears. Or just click Save As, and then choose
the 97-2003 option from the "Save as type" dropdown in the dialog.

People who need to open Word 2007-format .docx files in earlier versions
(back to Word 2000) can get a free compatibility pack at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...3-C6BB74CD1466.
