Default Workgroup Templates file location "Lost"?

The information is stored in the registry. Specifically, for each user
it's stored in the value named SharedTemplates within the key

HKEY_USERS\user ID\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\General

where user ID is something unique for each profile, like
S-1-5-21-725345543-606747145-639522115-1002. Also, the '9.0' is the
specific version number for Office 2000. Also note that if the
Workgroup Templates location is blank, the SharedTemplates value
doesn't exist -- it's created only when the location is set to a value
other than the default.

When a user logs in on the machine, the value from HKEY_USERS\user
ID is automatically copied to the same location under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER. That's the one that is actually used by Word.

Hi all,

We have our workgroup templates on the network. We configure Word 2000
to that location on the network. For Example: S:\Templates.
But sometimes users lose the location of the workgroup templates. The
other configurations made stay intact.

I would like to know where word 2000 stores the configurations and how
we can prevent the losing of the workgroup templates location in Word.

If any of you have a clue, your help or suggestions are greatly
appreciated!
