Default Table of Contents - Removing Header Numbers

Thanks Stefan and Brian. Unfortunately the article that you referred me to
did not answer my question. My TOC looks like the following:

User Acceptance Test Scenario Overview..............4
Alerts............................................ ....................5
1 2.1.1 Search and View Alert History...............6
Comp Title, Items, & Artwork..............................17
Future Title - Title............................................. .35

I would like to remove the "1" in front of the 2.1.1 Search and View Alert
History. This is a "Heading 1"

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Jeff

In the document, how is the "1 2.1.1 SEARCH AND VIEW ALERT HISTORY" entry
displayed? If you want to get rid of the initial "1" altogether, modify the
numbering of the document. If you want something else, try the tips in the
article at http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/TOCTips.htm (suggested by
Brian). Depending on what you are trying to do, separate styles or TC fields
would be used in this situation.

Hi There,

Does anyone know how to keep the Heading numbering from appearing in the
table for contents. For example...(please see below) I would like for the
"1" to be removed from the third line and just have it state 2.1.1 which
is
part of a sentence in the document. The "1" is associated with Heading 1.

USER ACCEPTANCE TEST SCENARIO OVERVIEW..................4
ALERTS............................................ ................................5
1 2.1.1 SEARCH AND VIEW ALERT HISTORY...........6
COMP TITLE, ITEMS, & ARTWORK.......................................17
