Default unable to override font color defaults back to black

That sounds really bizarre. Does it still happen in Safe Mode (press and
hold Ctrl while starting Word)?

Not sure how to do that but will look into it. Basically what is occuring
is
I select red for the font color and type. The text appears red on the
line I
am on and then when it wraps to the next line I am still typing in red but
the text on the first line defaults back to the automatic color rather
than
remaining in red.

Not sure what is happening, exactly, but have you tried changing the
underlying style?

When I override the font color what I type appears in the new color,
red,
green, blue, etc. but when I wrap to the next line the previous line
reverts
back to black and the new line is in the override color but only as
long as I
am typing on it. This happens in both new and existing documents. I
am
using Office 2003 on XP Professional.
