For starters word opens in Landscape, can i change the default

File/Page Setup. Change the page orientation, then click the
"Default" button.

Then when i resize a picture it prints smaller than i inputted!!!

Smaller, as when you measure it on the screen. Or when compared to
the text and other things on the page? What you see on the screen
is not necessarily the literal size of what prints out. But you
should be able to expect the RELATIVE size of the graphic and the
page to correspond.
