Default Word 2003 can't modify all table formats

See http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/tablestyles/index.html for an
explanation.

Two questions - both related:-

1 Creating a New Table style won't allow me to use Arial 10 - I can use
other arial font sizes why not arial 10 ? (ie Table/Autoformat/New Table
Style/Modify).

2 Word ignores the table text format when inserting the New Table (border
formats are modified OK). IE Word does not use the New Table font &
paragraph style, it uses the normal document font and paragraph style - so

if
I insert a new table format into the document I still need to reformat the
table text again - it won't do it automatically. Why ?

(Is it 'cos tables are ultimately based on Table Normal that cannot be
modified ?)

Microsoft won't answer unless I pay them !!
