I believe that Works allows you to save in Word document format even if you
don't have Word installed.

I have a question about document conversion that I think I already know

the
answer to, but am not entirely positive.

Here's my situation, my Brother called to ask how to convert a Works
document to a Word document. Being as I have both programs installed and
haven't had just one or the other installed at a time for quite some while
now, I was unsure of how to answer his question. This is due to the fact
that, having both installed myself, I already have all the converters
installed that I need. Also, by having both installed I am not able to
confirm nor deny my suspicion that Works does in fact allow this

conversion
when you choose "Save As..." from the file menu. However, I DO recognize
the very distinct possibility that I may be wrong.

Thus comes my question: Can a Works Document be converted to a Word
Document if Word is NOT installed??

Thanks for any help.
