In the document, how is the "1 2.1.1 SEARCH AND VIEW ALERT HISTORY" entry
displayed? If you want to get rid of the initial "1" altogether, modify the
numbering of the document. If you want something else, try the tips in the
article at
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/TOCTips.htm (suggested by
Brian). Depending on what you are trying to do, separate styles or TC fields
would be used in this situation.
