Floating objects often affect the flow of the surrounding text,
unfortunately. Have you tried experimenting with the settings for Text
Wrapping?

"Move object with text" and "Lock anchor" are both unchecked for the
text box containing the figure. All I want if for the text to
seamlessly wrap around the figure with no forced page breaks. Thanks
