I first would try Help - Detect and Repair. If that doesn't fix the problem,
then the likely culprit is some kind of corruption (registry, template or

To hide them, right-click the book icon in the status bar (bottom of

It might be better, though, to leave the lines enabled and pay
attention to what they indicate. Word's spelling and grammar tools

jargon, uncommon words) can be added to your custom dictionary. The
grammar tool is less flexible and more often wrong.
