No, the entire entry is hyperlinked in Word 2000, and in fact there's no way
to change this through the UI; you have to edit the TOC field code to remove
the \h switch. If the entire entry is *not* hyperlinked, you can add \h to
the field code.

think only the page number in the TOC is hyperlinked in Word 2000, and you
can't change that. If clicking on a hyperlink doesn't work in Word 2000,
then in Word 2000 click on Tools | Options | Edit | uncheck the "Use
Ctrl+click to follow hyperlink" box | OK.
