I never used it, but I have to admit that, for simple documents, it offered
quite a lot of functionality that is not replicated in Word 2007.

choosing Outside rather than using "Different odd and even."

In Page Layout, select different odd and even pages options exactly as
in previous versions. Then you have different Footers for Odd and Even
pages. - just like before.
