Default Word letters type vertically

If I could only answer *why* some things happen, I'd be a much richer woman.
Sometimes we just have to shrug our shoulders and move on. Or you can blame
it on your kids/cat/roommate/etc. ;-)

JoAnn,
That seemed to work but I had to move the tab marker all the way to the
left
margin ad named it new.docx. Why this happened I don't know. I haven't
done
anything to Office 2007 and have used it for almost 1 year. There must be
a
bug in the template.
Thanks for your help.

Try renaming normal.docx to normal.old and let Word rebuild another
normal
file.

Yes, that is waht it looks like and I'm not using a table. I can
open a
blank
doc. and the letters go vertically. As I wrote it is wierd.

Are you typing text in a table?

This is weird since I have used Word 2007 for a year. When I
tyoe
the
letters
go vertically not across the page horiz. How do I change this?
Thanks,
