Default How do I format a CD booklet in Microsoft Word?

We all act like asses at one time or another, especially in these End Times.
Don't you agree? I hope that we all can eat. I was in my native L.A. in 2003
for a year. I hadn't been back in 13 years. I was astounded to see the
richest country in the world overflowing with homeless, starving people!
Americans eating out of garbage cans! Well, my friends, as Jefferson said, "A
country gets the government they deserve".

While your story is unfortunate, it is a poor excuse for acting like an ass.

I am not even remotely aware of Doug Robbin's financial circumstances, but
the possibility does exists that he is only hoping that enough people will
avail themselves of his services so, as you say, he can eat too. Did you
consider that?

I hope, for your sake, that your former patron's pockets are not so deep
that he keeps a team of hungry lawyers around to pounce on folks for
defamation of character. At least you didn't mention him by name ;-)

Good luck on you CD sales project.

I'm sorry if I seem to have a "huge chip" on my shoulder. I guess I'm just
sick and tired of people for whom the Almighty Dollar is their obsession;
in
some cases, even their god. I know that we (unfortunately) live in a world
where "men" seem to think they "own" land that God gave us all to live on,
and that we must pay tribute (i.e., money) to these people to rent "their"
land and "their" house and pay for everything with the possible exception
of
air. I reluctantly accept this fact, but I do need money like Bill Gates.
No
one does. So I guess I'm just so tired of seeing people putting money
above
love that it just sickens me. You don't know what I've been through, so I
can
somewhat understand your reaction. I didn't mean to insult anyone. I
worked
for 35 years and in 2001 I had my substantial life's savings plundered by
the
Swiss-German government for the pleasure of one of their wealthiest
citizens.
I worked as a musical composer for him for 3 years, and then he refused to
pay me, falsely claiming that I hadn't recorded anything at all. You can
hear
sound samples of many of the 375 songs I created for this liar at:

www.cdbaby.com/mbw

Again, I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings. If I did, it was not
intentional. I am impoverished and I am just trying to figure out how to
put
a CD booklet together so I can try to make copies of my "Ghostwriter" CD
and
hopefully sell enough copies to at least eat.

Frankly I can't understand why when you have such a huge chip on your
shoulder that you think anyone might want to help you. If you write in a
public newsgroup it is *everyone's* business. You are quoting from Doug's
standard signature block, which appears on all his messages to deter
people
from contacting him directly unless they wish to pay for his time - which
he
gives freely to those who ask questions here. His reply may have been
brief,
but it was neither rude nor inaccurate.

As I said in my first reply Word is not a good tool to do this. Word does
not work well with custom paper sizes, so you are going to have to use a
standard paper size and use a ruler to measure the CD booklet and
transfer
those measurements to the document to produce a document the size of a CD
booklet page - then you can use the method Suzanne linked to produce a
multi-page booklet. Word does not care what measurement system you use.
You
can insert inches of cm (or others) directly in any measurement box as
long
as you indicate what they are eg 5 cm 3" etc.

Michael,

You are out of line. Just because you don't understand doesn't make
everyone else stupid and rude.

A 'ruler' is a linear measuring device, and he is simply telling you
to measure the case. So measure the case!

Your response sounds like a joke, and that is how I take it. I also
do not wish to "avail" msyelf of your "services". If I wish to pay
a consultant for such a simple question, I guarantee you, you'll be
the last person on earth I will consider. I'd rather buy another
program than to pay such a rude person anything at all.

Hi, Suzanne! Thanks for your response. I am in Europe, and
everything is metric. I just want to create a simple music CD
booklet which will contain the lyrics to some of my songs. If I
can get as far as you've directed me (hopefuully) please tell me
in .mm what measurements I should use to create
a music CD booklet. I also have Publisher, if you think that
would be better.

Thanks,

Michael

If you have Word 2002 or above, use the "Book fold" feature. If
an earlier
version, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...etPrinting.htm. Very
likely you will have to set your booklet up with larger margins
on a larger
paper size, then trim accordingly.

Thanks for you answer, but I'm sorry. I don't understand it.
I'm a techno-dummy. I only know enough to get by. Can you tell
me where to get a
CD
booklet templet or something" It'll be about 10 or 12 pages. I
have it saved as a Word document. You can also e-mail me
directly at:

A CD booklet is essentially a two fixed size cell table with a
border as
a
cutout guide and can be printed on any paper size that will
fit it. Word is a poor tool for this job. Publisher is better,
but Surething CD
labeller is *much* better.

If you have Nero, it too has a labelling tool that you could
use.
