FWIW, I'm using Word2003.

I notice various posts in ms.public.word.numbering about
this, largely saying it can't be done without the likes of
VBA, though those wereWRT Word 2002.

Why isn't that ng availabile from the
communities.microsoft.com newsgroup system?
