Default Office 2007 - Problem with linked images in a document

Thanks for your answer.

I tried the XML thing first, but Word seems to be quite touchy about the
format and didn't allow much editing before the file got corrupt.

The edit link to file option solved my problem. This was much quicker when
you had lots of images you wanted to change at once.

Thanks!

Inge

Yes, I've discovered that about Word 2007. Where you go to update and
change your links...

You've got two places, the first one is to select the Office Button |
Prepare | Edit Links to Files.

The other is to change the file extension of your docx document to .zip and
then open the XML file which is named document.xml.rels. To view the content
just open it in the Windows Explorer and you can view
the xml. For images that are linked the Target will include the file path
and the TargetMode will be External.

If you are like me, and not quite ready to dive into XML - then you can
click on your picture, select the Picture Tools Format tab, and select
Change Picture found in the Adjust Group.

Good Luck.

Hi

I've been working on a large user manual with lots of images in it. To
keep
the size of the document small I decided to just link the images into the
document. Also because I reuse same image several times (just crop the
part i
want to hide).

I keep the images in the same folder as the document and was hoping I
could
make a link to the image that without a specific folder name. Just use the
documents working folder. In that way I could move the manual project with
me
to other locations without changing the link.

All of this went well as long as I didn't move the files. But now, after
moving the files to another location, none of the images is visible in the
documents. The message is:
"The linked image cannot be displayed. The file may have been moved,
renamed
or deleted. Verify that the link points to the correct file and location."

Q1: Where can I find, and edit, the link to the file in Word 2007?
Q2: Is it possible to do as I mentioned earlier - keep a file link that
checks the documents working folder?

I've tried pressing Alt + F9 (read something about this in another post),
but nothing happened with my image. Maybe it doesn't work in Word 2007?

Kind regards
Inge
