Default My text won't go to the end of the right margin.

Under FilePage Setup, what margins do you have set?

It sounds to me like you are using Letter Size paper which is 8.5 inches
wide and that you have the Left Margin set at 1" which means that the left
edge of the paper will be a -1" on the ruler and the right edge of the paper
will be at 7.5" Your saying that the text boundary is at 6" indicates
that you have a 1.5" right margin. The white area of the ruler will extend
from 0" to 6".

If that is not the case, exactly what do you have for:

Left Margin
Right Margin

Hope this helps.

I should say...the top ruler shows the right margin at 7.5"...the text
boundary is at 6".

I'm using print view. But after checking the text boundaries, they are
not
set to the right margin. The top ruler shows the right boundary at 7.5",
which is where I want it, but the text boundary line puts the boundary at
6".

Is there a way to change this and to retain the changed area as the
default
setting?

thank you for your help! Huge progress already!!

Do you have the margins displayed (Tools | Options | View: Text
boundaries)?
This might make it easier to see what's actually going on. What view
are you
using?

Thank you both for your suggestions. Neither of them worked. If you
can
think of anything else PLEASE let me know. I can't understand how
this
happened and I've checked every setting I can think of to fix it!

Check Format | Paragraph to see if there is a right indent applied.

When I type text into a Word document, the text wraps before it
reaches
the
right margin. I've tried resetting my "default" settings to old
documents
where I didn't have this problem, but whenever I open a new
document,
the
same problem appears.
