Default Word 2007 - change my current document to be based on another template

If what you want is the Styles from the template, then you have a couple
options. One, I think you're missing the Templates and Add-ins dialog box if
you're looking for your attached template. You need to be viewing the
Developer tab for this. Click the Microsoft Office Button, then click Word
Options. In the Popular options, turn on Show Developer tab in the Ribbon
and click OK. Then on the Developer tab, click Document Template to display
the Templates and Add-ins dialog box.

An alternative to the Organizer is to create a new Quick Style set. Think of
Quick Styles as a new type of formatting template or a "style packager".

Modify and the Styles you want to use. For styles you want to remove from
the Quick Styles gallery, right-click the style in the Quick Style gallery
and click Remove from Quick Style Gallery. For styles you want to add, in
the Styles pane, click the arrow to the right of the Style (or right-click
the Style) and click Add to Quick Style Gallery. Then use the Style Manager
to set your Recommended view and order.

Once you have your Quick Style Set modified and displayed to your liking, on
the Home tab, click Change Styles, point at Style Set and then click Save As
Quick Style Set. Then for other documents, all you need to do is click
Change Styles and select your custom Quick Style Set.

Second, if you aren't seeing updates to your copied styles then do the style
names match? If they don't then that's why you're having difficulty, the
style names must match in order to update the style definitions when you
copy the styles using either the Organizer or a Quick Style Set.

In Word 2007, I want to change my current document to be based on another
template. How do I do that so it picks up the styles of my new template?

This group pointed me to the Manage Styles Import/Export feature which is
the same as the Word 2003 Organizer. However, it no longer shows me the
Template my document is based on. If I choose my new template there and
copy over my redefined styles, my current document does not update to
reflect the changed style.

This Word 2007 is very challenging. It's great having you all there to
show the way.
