G'Day Martha,

1. Fill in the (w)hole.

2. Understand that you may never be able to use the whole
page, owing to the limitations of your printer - not many
'home' printers will print to the edges of the page.

3. Understand that a 'watermark' is a graphic object whose
'anchor' is in the header. To see this, insert any old watermark,
ViewHeader and Footer and click on the watermark to select
it. If you selected 'Picture' then you have a 'washed out'
picture and if you selected 'Text' you have a WordArt object.
In either case (please try both) you can change its size, position
and properties to suit yourself.

You can also see the 'anchor' if you click 'Show/Hide' (¶) on
the Toolbar.

4. If you understand item 3, then you are now in a position to
'roll your own'! Insert any text/graphic object (anchored in the
header); put it where you like; size it to taste; use the 'Format'
button on the Picture Toolbar (Picture tab, Image Control
section, Color: dropdown) to control 'washout' - your
possibilities are endless.....

Good Luck!!
