Default How do I get the dinging sound to stop when I am in Office

Actually my speakers are turned on but I have the controls set for mute. I
don't want all that noise - especially on some websites. If there's
something I want to hear, it's just two clicks away. :-)

Do what I do, turn your speakers off.

Sorry, the dinging sound is in other office applications like Excel. It
seems to happen after I have been typing and pause for a second. It is
on my
new DELL Inspiron 9300 portable. Please tell me what other info you
need.
Many Thanks!!!

What you didn't say is if you hear the same dinging sounds in
other applications, or when your PC is inactive? Do you only
hear the sounds in Word, or do you hear them in Excel, too?
Is the sound coming out of your PC or is it coming through
your speakers?

Without more information, it's hard to make an educated guess.
The dinging sound may even be an internal alarm to warn you
that your CPU unit is overheating. Let's hope not.

I keep getting a dinging sound (for no reason). I even deleted Office
Sounds
and I keep getting it. It is driving me nuts. How can I get rid of
it?
