Is this perhaps the Style Area or Document Map?

A customer is having a problem with a Word document when in the Normal
View.
When the document is opened, the screen appears to "jump" and then a
left
white space appears to the left of the text along with the scroll bar
at
the
bottom. If you switch to Print Layout view or view the document in
Print
Preview, it appears as normal. If you print it, it appears as normal.
The
left and right margins are set to 0.6. Any ideas why this is happening
when
in Normal View?
