I think that when you switch to print preview and then back, the fields will
update. Note that there is a difference between Print View and Print
Preview.

Hi Charles,
I've set-up some custom file properties so the fields I am using are all
DocProperty fields.
Thanks,
Simon

Which fields. Different fields act differently. REF fields are

problematic and easily replaced with StyleRef fields even though doing so
isn't especially intuitive.

I have some fields in the header and footer of my document which I want
to
update easily (without using any coding or a macro).
The fields are set to update on printing (and do update when I print
them
out). My understanding was that they would also update automatically
on
print preview but this does not happen.
I am using Word 2003. Anyone got any ideas?
